Four accounting programs to choose from

At MSB-St. Cloud, we offer four programs that prepare students for accounting careers.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.  This program is designed to give students in-depth training in accounting— the language of business. It also covers accounting subjects such as financial analysis and forecasting and tax strategies.
  • Associate Degrees in Accounting:
    • Accounting & Tax Specialist.  Coursework in this program prepares students to be tax accountants. They take a class devoted to preparing for the ACAT, a certification exam that demonstrates proficiency in tax accounting.
    • Management Accounting. This associate degree program gives students a broad overview of accounting principles. Graduates can pursue career opportunities including positions in loan records, management accounting or accounts reconciliation.
  • Technical Diploma in Accounting. This program allows a students to complete their accounting training in just one year of full-time study. Graduates may find jobs as controller’s assistants, financial technicians, bookkeepers and credit specialists.

Additional credentials can lead to more job opportunities

Accountants have many opportunities to pursue credentials and certifications after college. They can become certified public accountants (CPAs), registered accounting practitioners (RAPs), enrolled agents (EAs) or certified management accountants (CMAs). At MSB-St. Cloud, our accounting programs help students prepare for these exams and certifications. Once earned, these certifications can help accountants advance in their careers and, earn higher salaries and may lead to self-employment opportunities.
